Snow Day

Picture dump... Today we finally had weather temperate enough that we could stay outside for most of the afternoon. It was also warm enough to bring the camera so we were able to get a pile of pictures of our snow piles before they are removed (possibly in the next week or so). We not only have the biggest snow fort on the block, we have the two biggest snow forts. Lucky boys!

Name games

This morning a friend of mine posted the link the the following website: Cheese or Font. It's a simple game in which you are given a name and you have to guess if it is of a cheese or a font. It's surprisingly hard but also fun. Looking at it led me to another similar game called Composer or Pasta? This one was easier for me (I actually knew most of the questions) but was just as fun. Makes me wonder who thinks of these things. Genius.

Happy Valentine's Day

These are my birthday flowers but I think they can do double duty here. Such a bright spot in the middle of winter.

Oy, I should be heading to bed now but this evening I just need some time to myself while the boys sleep to unwind. I think we're all on the edge of getting a cold and as I set aside a decent chunk of the afternoon to work on setting up our budget in a completely new way (not that the old way didn't work but that this might help us be more detailed in certain areas), I also spent that time simply reacting to the boys' boisterous behaviour when it broke in on my concentration rather than bringing them outside or otherwise directing the energy before it got out of hand. So I am a little more ragged after today (and after the craziness since the beginning of this year, but I think I'll talk about that another time) than usual. Which brings me back to the need to go to bed... Phew, I think I'm ready now. Just writing this short blurb out has given me a bit more perspective and, to top it off, here's a picture that literally does just that, too.

Reading time

Recently James set up his workbench by the boys' little bookcase in the livingroom and they love playing and reading underneath it. James has finished the project for which he originally set it up but they have been using it so much that he hasn't wanted to take it down. Yes, it's in the way but I can live with a little inconvenience for a while. After all, I've been living with various amounts of inconvenience for quite some time and it doesn't look like it'll change any time soon so at least this instance has the benefit of being thoroughly enjoyed by the boys. Also it does bring the added convenience of keeping them busy and happy for extended periods of time so perhaps that makes everything even.

Pajama time

James' mom likes to sew and makes a tradition of sewing the grandkids pajamas for Christmas. This Christmas they got blue and orange sock monkey pajamas and love to wear them. They also enjoy matching so it's pretty easy to get pictures in!
